Once upon a time, there was an electron called Oneo who spent its time flying around its universe visiting as many places as it could. It was on its own and thought of itself as the one and only and so called itself Oneo. After a long time it visited nearly every single point in its universe. Oneo was very fast and sometimes it felt as if it was everywhere at the same time but it was not sure, it just seemed to appear in different places. Oneo noticed that there were many points beyond which it could not travel. Its universe had an edge and that there was nothing beyond this edge.
Oneo kept a diary of all his trips. There was not much to see and anyway it did not have eyes. The one thing Oneo could do was measure distance as it was the electronic ruler of its universe. Oneo’s digital diary contained a list of the distances it travelled between different points. It had not much else to think about, so it analysed the measurements in its diary. One of the interesting things it discovered was that there was a unique point in the universe that was the same distance from every place on the edge of its universe. This point felt special to Oneo. Whenever it passed through this point it felt a Zen-like calmness. Its mind emptied and it felt a moment of peace. It was a point of balance, a place to reset and from which to start a new journey. It spent a lot of time contemplating this point and decided, as there was nothing else like this point, that it would call it point 0, the beginning and origin of all his journeys. It called the distance from this point to any point on the edge the 1 distance. Its whole universe existed between the 0 point and the 1 points.
